Project Description

A modern residential complex with three barrier-free multi-family houses, including carports and outdoor parking spaces, is being built in Offingen, Bavaria. For this innovative residential construction project by bendl, 18 high-quality carbon concrete balcony slabs were produced. After their long journey, the balcony slabs recently arrived at the construction site in Bavaria and have now been successfully installed. The use of carbon concrete slabs not only introduced a modern building material but also underscored a commitment to sustainable, future-oriented construction.

Why Carbon Concrete?

Carbon concrete is an innovative composite material that surpasses conventional reinforced concrete in many ways. Its key advantage lies in its low weight combined with high load-bearing capacity. This allows components such as balconies to be designed significantly slimmer and lighter, simplifying transport, installation, and structural requirements.
Another major benefit is sustainability: Since no steel reinforcement is required, there is no corrosion, significantly increasing the material’s lifespan. Additionally, CO₂ emissions during production are reduced because less cement and overall material volume are needed.
By using carbon concrete, approximately 250 kg of CO₂ per balcony were saved on this project—amounting to a total reduction of about 4.5 tons of CO₂ across all 18 balconies.
