The solidian GRID are registered with the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) as Carbon reinforcement grids approved for the first time in the form of a general building approval (abZ) including a general type approval (aBG). solidian GRID reinforcements can therefore be used as single or multi-layer tensile reinforcement (up to 6 layers) for concrete components on the basis of the abZ/aBG and the newly publishedDAfStb guideline - "Concrete components with non-metallic reinforcement". A commented version of the DAfStb guideline has been published as DAfStb booklet 660 "Explanations and examples of the DAfStb guideline for concrete components with non-metallic reinforcement".
The approval of the solidian GRID applies to carbon concrete components that are manufactured in the precast concrete plant or as in-situ concrete components. The carbon concrete components are produced either by casting or by laminating.
The solidian GRID can be used as load-bearing or structural reinforcement for components that are mainly subject to bending stresses with predominantly static loads, such as:

When using solidian GRID as load-bearing reinforcement, the following boundary conditions must be observed (valid for all exposure classes as well as internal and external components):
The exclusive structural use of solidian GRID also allows the combination with steel reinforcement and, in addition to the concretes in accordance with DIN EN 206-1, the use of concretes in accordance with the cast stone standard DIN 18500.
The approved solidian GRID can be delivered as a flat, individual reinforcement grid or wound up in large lengths as a roll, which means that joints in the longitudinal direction of the grid can be avoided even in large carbon concrete components. The approval of solidian GRID therefore offers excellent conditions for a wide range of applications in the production of carbon concrete components.

Solidian has succeeded in obtaining approval for solidian GRID as a family approval. This means that not only the previously known reinforcement grids (names in brackets according to the guideline)
covered, but also possible other grids with grid widths from 21 mm to 76 mm. The same materials must be used to manufacture the grids and, among other things, the minimum tensile properties defined in the approval must only be demonstrated as part of the initial sample test.
At this point, we would like to thank the IMB - Chair and Institute for Concrete Structures at RWTH Aachen University for their cooperation in the approval process.
