solidian GRID reinforcement for MODULAReco system balcony slabs

The MODULAReco-Systembalkonplatte and MODULAReco Carbon-Balkonsystem by HABAU demonstrate how carbon-reinforced precast concrete can be used in approved balcony slab systems for new construction and renovation.

The system balcony slab is designed with carbon mesh reinforcement by solidian and is covered by the general building authority approval Z-71.3-46. This approval supports reliable planning and execution of balcony slabs as part of a defined system solution.

Depending on the project requirements, the HABAU system balcony slab is available either as a slab solution without steel construction or as a carbon balcony system including steel construction.

Challenge

Balcony systems need to combine structural performance, efficient installation and long-term durability. In both new buildings and renovation projects, reduced weight, reliable planning and controlled system execution can make a significant difference.

Solution

The MODULAReco system balcony slab uses solidian GRID-Q71-C-EP-s-51-F207 as carbon mesh reinforcement.

The slab has dimensions of 3.47 × 1.985 m and a thickness of 13 cm. It is supported along the sides on steel angles and elastomer bearings.

The reinforcement layout consists of:

• Top reinforcement layer: 1 × solidian GRID-Q71-C-EP-s-51-F207
• Bottom reinforcement layers: 2 × solidian GRID-Q71-C-EP-s-51-F207

This defined reinforcement concept enables the balcony slab to be used as part of HABAU’s approved system solution.

Result

The system shows how solidian GRID reinforcement can support approved, prefabricated balcony solutions with reduced material use, lower weight and long-term durability.

By using carbon mesh reinforcement instead of conventional steel reinforcement in the slab, the system benefits from the non-corrosive properties of carbon reinforcement and allows efficient precast production within a defined balcony system. The MODULAReco solution can be used either as a system balcony slab without steel construction or as a complete carbon balcony system including steel construction.
