As part of the villa development project constructed by Model Yapı and delivered in collaboration with Omnis Kompozit, solidian Primafloor 130 glass fiber reinforcement was selected as an alternative to conventional steel mesh reinforcement systems for pool and terrace screed applications. The system was implemented in pool slabs and terrace areas to control cracking caused by shrinkage and temperature variations, optimize installation processes, and create a durable, long-lasting screed solution.
Steel mesh reinforcement, commonly used in screed applications, can become susceptible to corrosion over time, particularly in structures exposed to outdoor environmental conditions. This may lead to surface deterioration, reduced durability, and increased maintenance requirements. The risk becomes even more significant in areas such as swimming pools, where moisture and chloride exposure are continuously present.
The solidian Primafloor 130 system used in this project completely eliminates the risk of corrosion thanks to its glass fiber composition. At the same time, it provides a uniform distribution of reinforcement within the screed, contributing to the control of cracks that may develop due to shrinkage and temperature-induced stresses.
Compared with traditional steel mesh reinforcement, solidian Primafloor 130 offers a significantly lower weight, resulting in considerable advantages during transportation, handling, and installation on site. Its roll-based format enabled rapid placement, reduced labour time, and improved overall installation efficiency.
Model Yapı Villa Project represents a successful reference case demonstrating the technical and operational benefits of non-metallic reinforcement technologies in screed applications. It highlights how corrosion-free reinforcement solutions can provide long-term performance advantages, particularly in swimming pools, terraces, and outdoor environments exposed to demanding service conditions.
