This reconstruction and strengthening project was carried out in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir following the earthquake, in collaboration with our partner Omnis Kompozit and the application contractor Savur İnşaat. Masonry infill walls that had lost their integrity and functionality due to seismic damage were completely dismantled and rebuilt with a focus on improved safety and long-term performance.

During the reconstruction works, solidian BRIKSY fiberglass bed joint reinforcement was integrated into the masonry walls along the horizontal mortar joints. BRIKSY was installed directly within the mortar during bricklaying, ensuring continuous reinforcement throughout the wall length and enabling the masonry to act as a more unified structural element.

From a technical perspective, the use of solidian BRIKSY provided the following advantages:

• Increased in-plane shear strength and lateral load capacity of the masonry walls,
• Effective delay and control of diagonal cracking mechanisms induced by seismic actions,
• Improved integrity of the wall by promoting composite action and limiting brittle failure modes,
More balanced interaction between the masonry walls and the reinforced concrete structural system,
Complete elimination of corrosion risks associated with conventional steel reinforcement,
A lightweight, thin, and easy-to-install reinforcement solution without increasing wall thickness.

As a result, solidian BRIKSY played a key role in the safe reconstruction of the damaged walls after an earthquake, significantly improving their seismic performance and enabling the building to regain its functionality in a reliable and durable manner.
